Jetting Tips |
Suggested tips on jetting,
based on the 17.5/107.5 Jet Upgrade.
First of all remove the seat/tank/rear fender
unit, it just makes it easier to work on.
secondly on the bottom of the carb on the gear shift side is a philips
screw with basically a breather pipe straight below it, ensure petrol
is off and undo this screw, it will save you being covered in fuel when
doing the below once you have removed the seat/scoop/tank on the front
of the carb your see 2 nuts/bolts holding the carb to the manifold (you
should see the black spacers in there aswell) remove these two nuts which
you will need a 8mm socket and a 10mm spanner for, then you remove the
carb stick the spacers to one side as YOU DONT need these any more.
If you then turn the carb upside down you will see the float bowl which
is held on by 4 cross head screws, remove these (make sure you have the
right screw driver as they are only brass and easy to ruin) and in front
of you will be the jets, on the main jet (small stumpy one) grip the carb
body that its bolted to with a pair of pliers and remove with a flat point
screw driver, then replace with the new one. the same with the pilot,
just unscrew wand replace with the new one, then screw the float bowl
back on. next to the float bowl your see a very small flat head screw
inset back into the carb body, this is your fuel mixture screw, turn this
clockwise all the way in untill its seats (note this doesnt need to be
tighted within an inch of its life, just untill you feel it seat) then
undo 1 full turn and 2/3rds.
Next remove the throttle slide, this is done by unscrewing the large bolt
that is on the top of the carb where the throttle cable goes in. slide
that out which will remove the slade/cable assmembly if you compress the
spring your be able to unhook the cable from the slide. once you have
done this push the needle jet up into the slide body which will sperate
the two (NOTE BE CAREFULL OF A HORSESHOE SHAPED SPRING THAT WILL FLY OUT)
remove the clip on the needle jet from the 2nd setting from the bottom
(standard) and replace in the middle setting. then reassemble. AGAIN NOTE
that the horseshoe shaped spring needs to be located with the gap towards
the cut in the slide body.
Put all the carb back together.
When bolting the carb back on, where the 3 black spacers were u need to
put the ally spacer, there is already an o-ring on the carb its self,
so the o-ring side of the ally spacer needs to be on the manifold side.
tighten these up, but do not over tighten as they can snap (from experience
here) them just put it together!
